What to expect?
When you arrive at Sigma Phi Gamma Park head toward the shelter house. As you exit the south and east parking lots there will be registration tables for you register and receive a bag with a chance to win a door prize. Registration will run from 9:45 – 10:15 am.
As you wait for the Easter Egg Hunt to begin there will be free hot drinks available in the shelter house. We ask that move toward the shelter house as you wait for further instructions. Please do not pick up eggs or take your children to the age group area where they got eggs last year. Each year the age group areas change.
After 10:15 am someone will begin to address the crowd about the meaning of Easter as well as give special instructions. Children and their families will be dismissed by age group to go to their designated area. The egg hunt will begin once you hear the air horn sound after everyone is to their appropriate age group area. PLEASE, do not run to your assigned age group area and immediately begin picking up eggs. We want everyone to have an equal chance so we ask that you wait until the air horn has sounded. Thank you!
The egg hunt will begin as close to 10:30 am as possible. It usually takes around 15 minutes for the children to pick the park clean. We ask that you please take the contents of the eggs but then return the eggs to one of the storage bins up by the shelter house so we can use them again next year.
If your child finds one of the special eggs you will need to bring it to the shelter house to redeem his or her prize.
What are the age groups?
Infants – 1 year
2 – 3 years old
4 – 5 years old
6 – 7 years old
8 – 9 years old
10 – 12 years old
There are two special eggs in each age group that can be redeemed for a larger prize.
Will there be an area for my handicap child?
There will be a special section for handicap children that is on a basketball court so the area is easier to walk on and can be accessed with walkers and wheelchairs. If there is anything that we could do to help make the Easter egg hunt experience better for children who are handicap please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We welcome and value your input.
Can I help my child hunt for eggs?
Yes. We encourage parents, grandparents, and all family members to join in the fun. We only ask that you do not permit your children to begin before instructed and that you not pick up eggs for your children (unless they are infants). This is only because we want to make sure that each child has an equal chance to get some eggs.
What if it rains or snows?
If we should get heavy rains or more than an inch of snow we have set a rain/snow date for the following Saturday, April 2. The times for the event will remain the same: registration from 9:45 – 10:15 am with the hunt starting at 10:30 am.
What is in the eggs?
Individually wrapped candy, small toys, stickers, tattoos, ice cream cone certificates to McDonald’s or Burger King. The contents inside the eggs will vary slightly based on the age group.
Can we keep the eggs?
The Easter egg hunt is an annual event that we host each year, so we ask that you keep the contents of the eggs and leave the empty eggs in one of the storage bins spread out around the shelter house area. We appreciate your help in assisting us in being able to put on this event each year by returning the eggs to us. Thank you!
Why do we have to register for the egg hunt?
There are a few reasons we have you register for the egg hunt. First, by registering for the egg hunt you will receive a bag for eggs as well as a chance to win a special door prize donated from various local businesses. When you register for the event we are also able to get a better idea of how many children we have in each age group. We use this information to adjust our age group sizes and plan where we place the age groups in the park for the next year. By filling out the registration card we also use your information to send you a postcard for next year’s Easter Egg Hunt. We promise we will not send you a ton of junk mail.
